Are you a parent in Seaford with a child due to start school in September 2021?
We know that choosing your child’s first school is an important and difficult decision to make. We understand that you are looking for a school with
- a friendly, family atmosphere
- where high standards of behaviour and learning are everyday priorities.
At Chyngton, we provide a safe, caring and supportive environment, which allows children to achieve their full potential. We put children’s wellbeing and happiness at the very heart of everything we do, because we know that children learn best when they are happy.
Our staff pride themselves on the family-friendly ethos of our school. They will build a relationship with every child and every family, and that means we can personalise learning and meet the needs of individual children.
We aspire for our children to achieve the best academic and life skills that they can, in order to prepare them for personal success in an ever-changing world. As a result, children at Chyngton embrace the wide-ranging opportunities that we offer and are able to face challenge with determination and resilience.
Our aim if for every child to leave Chyngton, ready for secondary school and ready for life.
Our Chyngton curriculum is engaging, relevant and meaningful to the world and community that our children live in. Children discover past historical events, explore big ideas linked to conservation and technological change and learn all the skills they need to be successful in the modern world.
We dedicate significant time to teaching key life skills such as reading and writing, and our successful mastery approach helps every child to achieve their best in maths. We also have a specialist-computing teacher and our children love learning to code and program. Music and swimming are also important parts of our curriculum, and we are the ONLY primary school in Seaford to have our own swimming pool because we truly believe it is every child’s right to learn to swim.
In addition to all of our academic values, we place immense importance on looking after our children’s mental health and wellbeing. We have a dedicated pastoral team in school who are able to support children. We employ a School Counsellor and an Education Mental Health Practitioner and we have an experienced nurture and welfare team who prepare groups of children for learning and the classroom environment. The whole Chyngton team works together to offer support and advice to families facing challenging or difficult times.
We can’t wait to meet the next generation of Chyngton children, and to support, nurture and develop them in partnership with you.
